Website of rescue: www.chestercatcare.co.uk
Where rescue is based (Town, County): Chester, Cheshire
Where rescue rehome to: Chester and surrounding
Type of animal(s) Rescue deals with: Cats
Is Rescue breed specific? Please explain either way: No – any breed (though 99.9% are moggies!)
Do you neuter all animals before leaving for forever homes where applicable? Please explain either way: Yes, all neutered if over 5 months. if under 5 months, owners sign contract agreeing to neuter at 6 mnths of age.
Do you always home check? Yes – initial check by phone, home check before cats are homed and a post-adoption check 2 weeks later
If applicable do you always vaccinate?: We always do the 1st vaccination and ask new owner to do the 2nd vaccination (unless cat has been handed into us fully vaccinated). This saves us a bundle of money and also means that the new owner has to register with a vet pretty much straight away; they’ll then be advised on fleaworming year round and get a reminder before the next year’s jab. So it works pretty well
If applicable do you always worm/flea treat: Yes, always
If applicable do you microchip?: yes, except with feral cats (as unlikely ever to be able to be scanned!)
Do you provide insurance when rehoming to new owners?: Yes, 4 weeks’ with Petplan.
Will you always take the animal back no matter what? If not please explain under what circumstances etc: Yes, we will always take animals back at any point in the future- but hoping everyone doesn’t ask at once!
Rough ‘donation’ guide per animal, please also explain what this involves: We ask for £40 donation for each cat or kitten adopted which pretty much covers the cost of the vaccination, flea/worming and microchip.
