Name Of Rescue: Allsorts Dog Rescue
Website of rescue: http://www.allsortsdogrescue.org.uk
Where rescue is based (Town, County): Hassocks, Sussex
Where rescue rehome to: Normally within 40 mile radius. Further is possible but require an extra agreement form to be signed with specific requirements for distance rehoming, such as a commitment to return the Dog to us at their cost and within our time scale if it doesnt work out. Also to provide written proof of a homecheck and vet reference.
Type of animal(s) Rescue deals with: Any breed of dog.
Is Rescue breed specific? Please explain either way: Absolutely not.
Do you neuter all animals before leaving for forever homes where applicable? Please explain either way: Where possible they are. Stray Bitches sometime not for obvious reasons. However, in case of an entire dog or bitch we contribute to the cost when appropriate. Adoptive family sign an agreement to have dog spayed/neutered as soon as practically possible.
Do you always home check?: Yes, but in some cases we will accept proof of an RSPCA or Dogs Trust or reputable Rescue homecheck and/or reference from a vet (whom we call to verify).
If applicable do you always vaccinate?: Yes
If applicable do you always worm/flea treat?: Yes
If applicable do you microchip?: We do when we can. Sometimes a dog comes in and goes out before it can be done, and sometimes we rehome dogs from their original families homes (and may not have chipped them).
Do you provide insurance when rehoming to new owners?: Not yet. TRYING to get Animal Friends Insurance to give us insurance packs with a free month for new customers. REALLY difficult to get them to take this on board. Reluctant to use PetPlan.
Will you always take the animal back no matter what? If not please explain under what circumstances etc: In principal yes, always. But we try very hard to get adoptive families to work through issues. If it fails we take the dog back, but sometimes they have to wait up to 2 weeks for a foster or kennel space. If we detect the dog is just not wanted and we feel the dog is not being best cared for, we take it straight back.
Rough ‘donation’ guide per animal, please also explain what this involves: All puppies are £150. Most other dogs are £150 as well, but if not spayed/neutered this is reduced to £100. Older dogs less. Occasionally (rarely) nothing if a really hard to home dog finally gets a chance and we are just grateful to find a forever home for it. We never advertise this for a particular dog though. New families receive a comprehensive rehoming pack from us with a pamplet on having a rescue dog and having a new puppy. Also, information relating to the laws of owning a dog and some “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of owning a dog. Also a strongly repeated message to contact us if problems occur and NOT leave it until the situation becomes intolerable and the Dog loses its home.
