We work with rescues around the UK to connect you with volunteers and other rescue people, like you.

We can help your rescue to find volunteers both locally and nationwide. People who can help with things like fostering, transporting and homechecking.

You can also use our community to promote your animals needing homes, events and fundraising appeals, and to make connections with other rescues from all over the UK.

A dedicated rescue community

Our community is all about rescue. With hundreds of active members logging in every month, we’re a dedicated group of people in your field.

By working together and getting to know each other better we can strengthen the work that the rescue community is doing.

Please note, since the retirement of our dedicated forum (RIP!) at the end of 2017 we are now solely using our Facebook group, so the instructions on how to join are awaiting an update.

In the meantime please post in the RHU Facebook group to let us know if your rescue would like to join us, and we’ll be in touch to discuss. Thanks!

Once you’ve created an account and you’re logged in, you can register your rescue by submitting your details, including your policies on things like homechecking and neutering, and your contact details.

When your account is approved you’re ready to go ahead and start posting for help.

Our volunteer database

We have volunteers from all over the country listed in our database.

This means you can post for help in your local area or further afield, so if you’ve found that perfect home on the other side of the country, you can find homecheck help from someone local to that area.

If you know active volunteers in your local area that are keen to help, you can give other rescues a helping hand by encouraging people to join the RHU community where they can find more opportunities to help animals.

Sharing and promotion for your animal rescue

circles_sml_cat1Being a member of RHU helps to spread the word about your organisation and you can use our community to promote your:

  • Animals for adoption – animals posted on our website receive hundreds of views from prospective adopters, and we’ll also crosspost them to our dedicated adoption website – AnimalsNeedingHomes.co.uk and our social profiles on Facebook and Twitter where we have thousands of followers
  • Events and appeals – let us know about your upcoming events and special appeals and we help to spread the word

Also, every rescue registered with us is listed in our online Animal Rescue Directory, which helps prospective volunteers and adopters to find you on the net.
